Parkway is a small residential community located between the Mondawmin Mall and Baltimore City Community College. The neighborhood is also sometimes referred to as Burlieth-Leighton after two of its major streets. The neighborhood is primarily composed of porch-fronted rowhomes alongside a small number of red-brick apartment buildings. Parkway was famously home of Ethel Ennis, Baltimore’s “First Lady of Jazz” who was not only a world-famous jazz singer, but also a dedicated community member.
